The Main object of the Association is to inculate an awareness amongst the members. In the year 1930 the first pump
was produced in Coimbatore and in 1937 the first motor in India was produced in Coimbatore.Production
of monoblocks,domestic pumps followed subsequently.Coimbatore units are now diversifying in the Submersible
Pumpsets to meet the water requirements due to prevailing drought conditions in many parts of our Country.40%
of the Country's requirements of pumpsets are being met by Coimbatore units.Coimbatore pumps are being
exported for the past 25 years.This is due to quality,reliability and performance by incorporating design
changes to suit the site conditions.
Significant achievement of SIEMA is the awareness created amongst its members regarding Quality Control.The total number of
BIS Licensees in and around Coimbatore are more than 300 which is the largest in our Country.Our Association has close
relationship with Bureau of Indian Standards in connection with the formulation of Indian Standards connected
with the agricultural pumpsets.Considering this,BIS,New Delhi has given representations in the following Secrtional
Committees:

- ME-19- Internal Combustion Engines.
- ME-20- Pumps Sectional and its Sub-Committees.
- ME-21- Diamond Core and Water Well Drilling Sectional Committee.
- ME-22- Compressors,Blowers and Exhausters.
- ET 15-Motors Sectional and its Sub-Committees.
- ET 33- Winding Wires for Submersible Motors.
